A busy week of action saw the top four in the BBL all win as the race for the title intensifies further.

Newcastle Eagles stay top of the table after recording two wins. The first came when they breezed past the London Lions 95-67 at home thanks to 20 points from Darius Defoe and Malik Cooke.

They made the short trip further up north to Scotland 48 hours later and came from behind to defeat the Glasgow Rocks 89-84. Paul Gause led the Eagles with 22 as they stayed in pole position despite having played three games more than second placed Worcester Wolves, who beat Plymouth Raiders 96-86 at the University of Worcester Arena.

One of the leading candidates for league MVP Will Creekmore paced the Wolves with an impressive 37 points as they look to reclaim top spot. They lie second, but are just four points behind Newcastle and have played three games less.

Reigning BBL champions, the Leicester Riders got back to winning ways with a pair of wins this weekend. They edged the Manchester Giants 90-86 at home in-front of a full house at the JSSC in Leicester before travelling down to Devon and thrashing the Plymouth Raiders 81-59, thanks in part to a 20-9 first quarter shut out.

Jay Cousinard led the Riders with 24 points in the narrow over Manchester, while Rashad Hassan posted a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds away at Plymouth as the champions stay in fourth spot.

Sheffield Sharks are third in the league as they secured two wins over the weekend. They defeated the Cheshire Phoenix 87-77 thanks to 24 points from BJ Holmes.

The Sharks followed that up by comfortably beating the Glasgow Rocks 75-61 on the road as Olu Babalola and Holmes each amassed 14 for the winners.

The Phoenix managed to get a win out of the weekend though as they toppled an improved Surrey United 101-91 in Guildford. Another of the candidates for league MVP Victor Moses paced the winners with 31 points and 14 rebounds. Lithuanian Donatas Visockis also recorded a double-double with 24 points and 16 rebounds for the Phoenix.

Surrey though had two double-double performers as well with Isaiah Tate racking up 23 points and 13 rebounds, with Ceslovas Kucinskas adding 16 points and 15 boards.

The Manchester Giants were 90-78 winners at home to the Durham Wildcats as the Giants remain outside the playoff spots but have hope of making it to the post-season.

James Jones led Manchester with 28 points with brother Callum adding 21.
