Week nine of the Eurocup saw four more teams claim second round spots with six more up for grabs on the final week, next week.

Group A

Ryan Thompson led the way with 18 points as Telenet Ostend edged Cibona Zagreb 85-82 on the road. Ostend were already through and join Foxtown Cantu on 7-2 records after they lost 86-74 in the Czech Republic to CEZ Nymburk.

Rasid Mahalbasic led Nymburk with 21 points and 9 rebounds as they improve to 5-4 and they stand a chance of progressing to the next phase.

A 22-7 second quarter blitz gave Le Mans a crushing 65-44 win over Artland Dragons as they continue their good hopes of heading to the Round of 32.

Joao Poulo Batista led the French with 15 points.

Group B

Oldenburg face a nervy final round of play as they lost 82-74 at home to already eliminated Spirou Charleroi.

The German side now must beat Bilbao in week ten next week or hope that they don’t lose by four points or more and Elan Chalon loses to Cedevita Zagreb.

Dimamo Sassari remains the only qualified team from Group B and they have now clinched top spot after beating Cedevita Zagreb 77-68.

The Italians are 7-2, while Cedevita drops to 5-4.

Group C

Union Olimpija Ljubljana kept up their unbeaten home record in the Eurocup this season with a 74-61 win over Ratiopharm Ulm.

The Slovenian side can win the group next week if it beats already eliminated Paris Levallois who edged Asvel in an all-French affair 74-72.

The other game saw Valencia thrash Cimberio Varese 94-62 in Italy as the Liga Endesa side drilled 13 three-pointers, en route to a 5-4 record. Varese fall further to 1-8 and are eliminated.

Group D

All games played on Tuesday night.

Group E

Hapoel Jerusalem has progressed to the second round after they won 77-69 away at CSU Ploiesti.

Josh Duncan steered them with 16 points and 9 rebounds.

Khimki, who are already through to the next round put up 32 points in the first ten minutes on their way to a 95-76 win at Karsiyaka Izmir.

Paul Davis led the scoring for the Russians with 21 points.

Igokea eliminated Lukoil Academic with a 74-61 success in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the group’s other game.

Group F

Ankara took a massive step towards the next round with a 92-87 win away to Nizhny Novgorod.

Clay Tucker put in a full 40 minutes on his way to 23 points – helping his side to a 5-4 record.

The other Group F game saw    Alba Fehervar edge Buducnost 82-80 in Hungary. Both teams have already been eliminated from this group.

Group G

A 60-point second half from Unics Kazan handed them a 98-51 home win over VEF Riga to remain unbeaten at 9-0.

Luke Harangody led the winners in a well balanced scoring effort with 16 points as he led five Kazan players in double figures.

The other games in the group saw Banvit set up a winner-take-all clash next week against VEF Riga as they beat already qualified Maccabi Haifa 95-76. And in a game strictly for pride, Kalev Tallinn beat MZT Skopje 84-69 in the Estonian capital.

Group H

Radnicki are through to the next round following a 91-81 win against Neptunas who drop to 3-6 following this loss.

Bisons Loimaa won away at Spartak Saint Petersburg 88-77 but with other results not going the way they had hoped, are eliminated.

The Finnish champions are at 4-5 while Spartak are 3-6.

And Panionios defeated Besiktas 77-67 in Athens to qualify for the Round of 32.
