Jeff Viggiano hit a rainbow jumper as time expired to hand Montepaschi Siena a 75-73 win away at Unicaja Malaga.

It’s Siena’s first win of the Euroleague season as the regular season stage enters the half-way point at five games. Malaga drop to 2-3 in Group C.

“This is a great win for my team,” Montepachi coach Marco Crespi said. “We were really patient on offence. We moved the ball well against their defence. The Euroleague is a competition that gives us an extra motivation. I can only thank my players for the effort they put out there in such a difficult court as Unicaja’s.”

Erick Green led Siena with 20 points as they now boast an outside chance of progression to the Top 16. Nik Caner-Medley had 18 for Unicaja.

Zalgiris comfortably beat Brose Baskets 91-81 at the Zalgirio Arena as both teams own 2-3 records following this Group B result.

Justin Dentmon was in devastating form as he led the Lithuanian champions with 24 points on 6/6 three-point shooting. Both teams were tied at 39-39 at the half before a 9-0 start to the third quarter gave Zalgiris the advantage which they would keep.

Rakim Sanders and Jamar Smith each scored 18 for Bamberg.

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv put on a display at the Nokia Arena as they beat Panathinaikos 75-68.

The result was never really in doubt from the first quarter onwards as the Israeli giants led 25-12 and never looked in any danger of relinquishing that advantage.

David Blu and Joe Ingles led Maccabi with 14 points each as they improve to 4-1 in Group D.

“I’m pleased with this win, said Maccabi coach David Blatt. “I don’t know if people understand the meaning of this win, but we beat a very good team. We are in a busy period and the players are tired, so to come and play the defence that we did is respectable. You could see that we came ready for the game.”

Stephane Lasme had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Greens who fall to 2-3.

Krunoslav Simon hit a game-winning three as Lokomotiv Kuban beat Laboral Kutxa 85-84.

Derrick Brown led the Russians with 23 points as Kuban join Maccabi on top of Group D with a 4-1 record. Vitoria drop to 2-3 following this heartbreaking loss.

Fenerbahce remained unbeaten in Group A and virtually sealed their Top 16 place with an 83-66 win over a brave Nanterre side.

Once the Turkish side pulled away in the second quarter, the result was academic but the French visitors never gave up hope and repeatedly got the score back to a respectable margin before a late push from Fenerbahce sealed the deal.

Bojan Bogdanovic led Fenerbahce with 20 points. Ali Traore matched the Croatian’s scoring feat with 20 for 2-3 Nanterre.

Barcelona beat Budivienik Kiev in the Ukraine 84-74 to pick up its first road win of the season.
