Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and his wife Connie have pledged to donate upwards of $25 million to coronavirus relief efforts in the United States.

ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk reports the Ballmer family is making the donation to the areas most affected by the outbreak – Seattle, Michigan, and Los Angeles – through the Ballmer Group.

The sum of $10 million will find its way to the University of Washington’s Medicine Emergency Response Fund in a move that is expected to speed up testing for a COVID-19 vaccine.

Ballmer and his wife join several other NBA owners and players who have donated cash to relief funds in various amounts, as well as to arena employees who are now unable to work as a result of the ongoing crisis.
