Game two between San Antonio and Memphis was an absolute thriller, and it needed an overtime period to seal it. The Spurs edged it 93-89 to take a 2-0 series lead.

There were two European standouts; Tony Parker and Marc Gasol.

Tony Parker (France) – 15 points, 5 rebounds, 18 assists, 3 steals.

Even though Parker missed some clutch free throws in overtime, his all-round game was heroic. He was instrumental in involving Spurs’ leading scorer Tim Duncan [17 points] a lot, especially when he wasn’t on form, offensively.

The French guard looked like he was playing on pure adrenalin in overtime, and didn’t shoot the ball that well, going 6/20 from the field but his team have a 2-0 lead. He’ll take that.

Boris Diaw (France) – 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist.

Quiet night for the forward, but Diaw chose his shots carefully and was a defensive presence when needed. Especially when Duncan and Tiago Splitter were in foul trouble.

Marc Gasol (Spain) – 12 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks.

Gasol again led his side overall, despite Mike Conley and Jerryd Bayliss leading the Grizzlies’ scoring with 18 points, but the hustle and determination of Gasol, along with his partner in crime Zach Randolph, who finally woke up with 15 points and 18 rebounds was evident and they will feel confident with the series moving to Memphis on Saturday.

The Spaniard played 42 minutes, and like Parker looked drained afterwards. He also didn’t shot the ball well, going 4/12 from the field.
