The NBA’s decision to shut the season down was the best the league could have done in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, but it has led to a barrage of questions and there are fears the remainder of the campaign could be foregone.

According to the Five Reasons Sports Network, the NBA has made August 1 the deadline for resumption, with all teams to possibly play 2-4 more regular-season games before a potentially shorter playoff schedule and a later start to the 2020/21 season.

“NBA looking at each team trying to play a few (2-4?) regular season games to satisfy TV deals & also to honor other CBA clauses (each player having opp 4 similar # of games),” the outlet reports.

“The drop dead date to start the season would be August 1st. Possibility of shorter playoff series. Also possibility next season starts later. But it’s fluid and complicated.”

This should still be treated as a rumor as the league has not confirmed anything in that regard. What we know for now is we won’t be having any NBA basketball until April 12 for the earliest. Meanwhile, there’s been no word on how the Draft and other summertime activities will shape up amid the ongoing crisis.
