The Brooklyn Nets’ drama, after Kenny Atkinson’s dismisal, may have many more layers in store as newly surfaced reports suggest.

In particular, Kenny Atkinson was not keen on coaching Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving next season, per Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports.

Atkinson was a vital member of the Nets’ “culture”, leading Brooklyn as a coach from the worst record in the league to the playoffs last season. That “culture” was one of the many reasons that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving decided to join the team the previous off-season.

Furthermore, according to the same source, Kyrie Irving currently prefers Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue to be the team’s next head coach. Both Irving and Lue were on Cleveland’s 2016 title run along with Lebron James.

Jacque Vaughn will lead the Nets as the interim coach the rest of the season, while Brooklyn tries to enter the playoffs as the 7th seed of the Eastern Conference.
