After the negotiations between James Harden and Oklahoma City Thunders for a contract renewal went south, the NBA finalists decided to trade him to Houston Rockets.

Harden alongside Cole Aldrich and Daequan Cook moved to Houston who in turn sent Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb to Oklahoma as well as two first-round and one second-round picks in the upcoming 2013 draft.

Earlier in the day Harden had rejected a 4 year new deal worth a total of $55.500.000 by Oklahoma as he wanted to get the maximum. On the contrary his new team Rockets are expected to sign him to the maximum $60.000.000 deal.

As sources close to Oklahoma administration claim the franchise simply could not afford to offer the maximum deal to Harden after having signed Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka to lucrative long term deals.

On the other hand Houston Rockets seem to have overpaid another player after Jeremy Lin, but only results will show who got the better end of the deal.
