New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson is officially listed at 284 pounds, but according to Bill Simmons, the young superstar could weigh over 300 pounds.

The 19-year-old made his competitive debut for the Pelicans last month after sitting out the first half of the season with a knee injury. And his weight is believed to be a factor where his fitness is concerned.

Speaking to guest Ryen Russillo on his podcast this week, Simmons claimed Zion could be the third heaviest player in NBA history.

“Bill Simmons recently revealed a reliable source informed him the New Orleans forward currently weighs over 300 pounds, which would make him the third heaviest player in NBA history behind the 7’1″ Shaquille O’Neal (324 lbs) and the 7’6″ Yao Ming (310 lbs),” a quote from SportsGossip reads.

The player’s weight undoubtedly gives him a competitive edge over his peers, but there is concern it could affect him when age begins to creep up.
