Great Britain international Azania Stewart has signed a one-year deal with Deportivo Zamarat after playing four years at the University of Florida.

The 23-year-old Stewart will join her new team-mates after this year’s Olympic Games as the London-born center begins her rookie professional career.

“It’s a great opportunity,” she admits. “It’s my first job but obviously the Olympics is my focus right now. I’m glad they’ve signed me and it’s exciting to have that next step to go to after the Olympics.

“It’s good to have sorted things now. It reminds me of when I went to high school to college. Choosing an agent was like finding a school again. That was difficult but I’ve got a great agent. I signed with Florida early and it was great to get that out of the way and now signing with Zamarat is the same.

“I can relax and put my full attention into the Great Britain team.”

Deportivo Zamarat, also known as Caja Rural finished ninth in Liga Femenina last season.
