Due to the lockout the 1998-1999 NBA season did not start until February 5. On that day five players that later went on to have illustrious careers made their debuts.

Those players are Dirk Nowitzki (Dallas Mavericks), Vince Carter (Toronto Raptors), Peja Stojakovic (Sacramento Kings), Paul Pierce (Boston Celtics) and Jason Williams (Sacramento Kings).

The debut season were different for them though. Vince Carter led the group 18.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in his debut season.

Meanwhile, Nowitzki had 8.2 points and 3.4 rebounds, Stojakovic – 8.4 points and 3 rebounds per game, Pierce – 16.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game and Williams – 12.8 points and 5 assist per game

Out of the five, Vince Carter is the only one who is still playing in the NBA, now at the age of 43.
