Great Britain coach Tom Maher won’t be facing his old side China, but will be taking on his home nation of Australia in Group B of the womens Olympic draw.
While Great Britain avoid USA, they will still be up against it as they will be up against the Olympic silver-medallists Australia, Eurobasket Women winners Russia and FIBA Americas winners Brazil along with the third and fifth best qualifiers from the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Ankara, Turkey.
But after pushing Russia to the limit at Eurobasket Women, GB head to the home event with no fear, and will look forward to the tournament in the hopes of upsetting the odds.
USA will definitely be the happier of all the teams in the womens draw. The favourites are in Group A where they face China, Angola plus the top two and fourth best qualifiers from the additional Olympic event.
