A new franchise to be based in Birmingham looks to of postponed its entry until next season, according to British basketball website mvp247.com.

The franchise was due to apply for entry to the British Basketball League for the 2012/13 season, but issues with the new International Futsal Arena, scheduled to be the home court of the team has meant they are more than likely to be pulling out until the 2013/14 season.

Team officials of the new club though confirm that the project to bring professional basketball to England’s second city is still on.

“We’ve not got a name yet and we’re looking for sponsors,” senior partner Michelle Forgan confirmed. “We’re working with the BBL and we’ll issue further details in May.”

The British Basketball League are not publically commenting on the matter at this time.
