Fenerbahce stayed alive in this season’s Euroleague thanks to a thrilling 94-87 overtime victory over Unics Kazan.

Needing to win by more than six points to avoid elimination, the Turks found themselves 13 down in the final quarter, but they fought back in-front of nearly 12,000 fans at the Ulker Sports Arena and a Roko Ukic floater on the buzzer tied the game at 79 and forced overtime.

Unics were poor in overtime, missing shots and giving Fenerbahce easy opportunities to score as the hosts completed their amazing comeback with a vital win.

Bojan Bogdanovic hit 20 points for the victors, followed by Ukic’s 18 points. Unics were led by 33 points from Lynn Greer as he matched Tyrell McIntyre with a third-highest index rating, as he racked up a +43.

Fenerbahce are still bottom of their group at 2-3, but will need to beat EA7 Milano and hope that Panathinaikos defeats Unics Kazan next week to have a chance. The Russians are now 3-2 but will qualify if they secure a home win next week, regardless of results elsewhere.

In the other Group G game Panathinaikos are the first team through, despite losing 67-58 to a fearless EA7 Milano side.

This results eliminates Milano, due to the Greeks winning by 21 points in the fashion capital earlier in the group. But even though they were defeated, the Italians can leave with their heads held high.

Nicolo Melli led the visitors with 13 points who can still have an impact on the group if they beat Fenerbahce next week, which would send Unics Kazan through, regardless of the result in Russia.

Milano coach Sergio Scariolo was proud of the way his team played despite defeat: “We are extremely happy for this victory”, he said. “It is the very first away win over such a big club and we feel proud of this success.

“We played total basketball, including excellent defense very good offensive decisions and creativity.”

Dimritis Diamantidis led Panathinaikos with 12 points.

Barcelona were confirmed as Group H winners last night, but had to work hard to edge a strong Bennet Cantu side, winning 63-62.

As a result of this loss, Cantu’s fairytale in the Euroleague comes to an end following Maccabi’s home win over Zalgiris.

Amazingly, this was Barcelona’s first win in Desio, Italy in seven attempts, but it was a vital one, as they improve to 5-0 in the group.

Boniface Ndong led Barca with 13 points and five rebounds. Juan Carlos Navarro hit 12. Cantu were led by big man Giorgi Shermadini’s 14 points.

As said, Maccabi Electra defeated Zalgiris in Tel-Aviv 70-66 to seal second spot in the group.

Despite the win, Maccabi found themselves down for the majority of the game, as the Lithuanians started much the stronger of the two, racing out to a 25-11 first quarter lead. The Israelis pulled it back though and took control in the fourth quarter, winning it 26-17 to claim the win.

Keith Langford hit 17 points to lead Maccabi. Sonny Weems led all scorers for Zalgiris with 20.

In the lone Group F clash, Real Madrid stayed alive thanks to a comfortable 86-65 home victory over Unicaja Malaga.

Nikola Mirotic led the victors with 18 points. Gerald Fitch had 15 in vain for Malaga.
