Marjan Lazovski has been appointed the new coach of FYR of Macedonia.

This follows the departure of Marin Dokuzovski who left to focus on his Bulgarian club side Lukoil Academic. His final role as national team coach was leading Macedonia to fourth place at Eurobasket in Lithuania, giving the Balkan side a place in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Venezuela in July plus an automatic passage to Eurobasket 2013 in Slovenia.

Lazovski, 49, was an assistant to both Jovica Arsic (Eurobasket ’09) and Dokuzovski and the head coach of the U20 side before accepting this role.

“I hope I will be up to the task and to the expectations,” he said. “This is a great privilege and honour for me.”

Lazovski is currently the head coach of Macedonia’s most decorated club, KK Rabotnicki.

FYR of Macedonia are in Group D of the Olympic Qulaifying Tournament, and will be facing-off against New Zealand and Angola.
