The Golden State Warriors will not play the playoffs. After many years of domination, having reached the Finals in the last 5 seasons, GSW will not reach the playoffs and therefore, they are already thinking about the future. Players like D’Angelo Russell, Alec Burks, Glenn Robinson III, Willie Cauley-Stein and a few others are all on the board. One of them, or all four, could bring the Warriors back to life.
The one who has the greatest chance of leaving the Warriors is Alec Burks. For Burks, a fight between the Celtics and the Rockets could start. Both teams must improve their second units. If either team calls GSW, then they will definitely talk about Burks.
Not even the engagement of Burks could create obstacles. Burks is on a team-friendly contract. He’s making the veteran’s minimum which is just $2.3 million. That means that many clubs could bring him.
If Burks seems to be one of the biggest suspects in leaving Golden State, the same can be said of D’Angelo Russell. He is young, he is a true leader and now, after a beginning of difficult season, Russell returned to be decisive and to drag the Warriors four-game winning streak.
We do not know if all this will materialize, but it certainly is a concrete hypothesis for the Golden State Warriors, to rise and return to what they once were.
