In a surprise move Valencia Basket has announced the signing of Brazilian international Tiago Splitter.

Splitter’s choice to join Eurocup club Valencia instead of Unicaja who plays at the continent’s best league, the Euroleague was surprising, but the two sides couldn’t reach an agreement.

Earlier Splitter had rejected a move to his former club Caja Laboral due to the presence of controversial Montenegrin coach Dusko Ivanovic at their bench.

Splitter will help Valencia in their ACB and Eurocup games until the end of lockout.

The center will join his new club immediately effective and won’t be occupying a foreigner’s spot in the squad as he will play as a local due to him playing for Baskonia aged 14-20.
