CSKA Moscow stated their claim as one of the favourites for the Euroleague crown with a thrilling 78-76 overtime win over Panathinaikos.

The win coming in-front of a fierce and intimidating 16,000-strong at the O.A.K.A.

Former Panathinaikos player Ramunas Siskauskas led CSKA with 14 points, Nenad Krstic secured a 13 point, 11 rebound double-double.

After pair of free-throws from Krstic sent the game into overtime, an important rejection from Andrei Kirilenko on Pana’s Mike Batiste was followed by a triple from veteran Siskauskas to give CSKA a 78-75 lead and despite pressure from the hosts, Moscow held on for the win.

“There are not a lot of teams that manage to win at OAKA,” Moscow coach Jonas Kazlauskas said. “But we have to stay cool because we are only at the start of a long and difficult road.”

Barcelona remained unbeaten as well as they comfortably saw-off Montepaschi Siena 92-75, despite a poor shooting performance from Eurobasket MVP Juan Carlos Navarro.

Luckily, Barcelona are not a one-man side and only needed the opening ten minutes to keep the Italian giants at bay, and after taking a 24-12 first quarter lead, the ACB side eased to the finish line.

Chuck Eidson led Barcelona with 22 points while the prolific Bo McCalebb led Siena with 20.

Partizan grabbed their first win of the Euroleague claiming the major scalp of Real Madrid 80-79.

A double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds from Milan Macvan and 20 points from Nikola Pekovic helped by game-winning free-throws from Acie Law with 17 seconds remaining gave Partizan only their second victory over the Spanish giants in their history.

Jaycee Carroll led all scorers with 21 in vain for Madrid – as they had a chance of victory – but Sergio Llull’s shot at the buzzer missed.

Another big game from Nicolas Batum gave Nancy a surprise 90-85 win over Caja Laboral.

Batum managed 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists in a full 40 minutes as Nancy grabbed their second win of the Euroleague while condemning Caja Laboral to their first loss.

Elsewhere, Zalgiris bagged their first win with a much needed 81-70 win over Brose Baskets. Maccabi Electra won on the road, beating Anadolu Efes 79-72 and there was another win on the road, this time for Emporio Armani Milano, as they beat Spirou 81-76.
