With Groups C and D having a rest day, the spotlight shone on Group B, as well as Group A.

In the last game of the day in Group B, France outlasted Germany 76-65 thanks to a majestic 32 points from point guard Tony Parker.

France got the job done in the third period by outscoring Germany 29-12. It was a knockout blow for which Germany could not recover from.

Italy’s Andrea Bargnani put in the performance of the day, as he scored a mammoth 36 points to help the Azzuri to a 71-62 win over Latvia.

Despite taking a 33-31 half-time lead, Latvia simply could not contain the third quarter onslaught from Bargnani and company. Once the Italians took the lead towards the end of the third, they didn’t lose it again.

A fourth quarter collapse cost Israel from a major scalp, but they lost out to Serbia 89-80.

Serbia scored 31 final period points to Israel’s 16 to claim victory. Dusko Savanovic led all scorers for the Serbs with 24 points.
