Germany’s Chris Kaman has told fans not to worry if it takes a while to find his rhythm during Eurobasket.
The Los Angeles Clippers big man admitted to DBB-TV that he hasn’t played competitive basketball since April.
“I’ve been just on my own, shooting, running and lifting weights – all that stuff,” Kaman said.
Germany are coming off a very good weekend in Turkey where they won the Sportoto World Cup after victories over Serbia and the hosts themselves.
Kaman was in the States at his parents when Germany won. He was notified via email from the German Federation. The 7-footer admits though that Eurobasket will be a much tougher playing environment.
“”I think we have a good chance,” Kaman said, confidently. “We’ll see how it goes. I definitely think myself and Dirk are going to need a little bit of time to get used to the feel of a lot of new guys who didn’t play in 2008, some old guys as well.
“So I think it’s going to take time for us to adjust to play. But ultimately, me and Dirk have been playing, Dirk especially five years more than me in the NBA, so he knows how to play the game, knows how to win.
“It’s hard to say, it’s a long way to go. I’m trying to be optimistic about it and play as well as we can.”
Germany will be in Group B alongside Serbia, France, Italy, Israel and Latvia.
