It was another surprising, eventful and unusually spectacular week in the TURKISH AIRLINES Euroleague. This time, we take a look at Real Madrid shot selection and advanced team statistics, Charles Smith’s miracle gamewinner in Bamberg and lineup/player combinaton statistics for Maccabi & others. Meanwhile, young swingmen from Croatia and Serbia star in the U22 watch.

RANDOM BITS

Just one week after an embarassing display in Charleroi, Real Madrid redeemed itself by beating Olympiacos82:68, now tying for first place in Group B. This had everything to do with high energy level on Real’s side and poor game organisation by Olympiacos’ playmakers. A much more in-control Sergio Rodriguez had 19 points, 6 assists and a +/- of +21 in 23,6 minutes of play and Jorge Garbajosa provided floor spacing and veteran defense, +/- of +12 in 19 1/2 minutes. Real however continues to rely on the midrange jumpshot: 28 attempts on Thursday, 12 of those successful. Good shot selection? Surely an atypical one for a Messina-led roster. But you’re the judge:
