ImageRussia’s 2007 Eurobasket triumph has to go down as one of the biggest basketball sensations of this decade, even coming close to [but not surpassing] Germany’s 1993 European Championship as one the biggest European basketball upset in the last 25 years.
However, two of that year’s triumph’s main catalysts are not going to be there when the Russian kick off their Eurobasket campaign versus Latvia in Gdansk on the 7th of September, and the preperation games have already made official what everyone knew anyway: David Blatt’s team isn’t going anywhere in Russia.
