Anthony ParkerAfter three years aboard, Europe most shining star will be loosed out of his contract and might join the old continent again. Anthony Parker, the American swingman who led Maccabi to two consecutives Euroleague championships, one Suproleague cup, the guy who won innumerable MVP’s and one of the greatest players ever played the European competition might join one of the big clubs in Europe this summer.

Parker, in an interview not long ago claimed that in the NBA he got some kind of value but in other places he got all different value. Parker who signed a three-year contract with the Toronto Raptors, will be free agent this summer. There is no doubt that he will be pursued by Europe’s greatest clubs. Olympiakos tried to sign him last summer, but at last got Josh Childress. Let’s take a look at some of the clubs that might get Parker for the next season.

We can not talk about Parker without mentioning Maccabi. After playing for The Yellows for five seasons, the player gladly declared that if one day he’ll be back in Europe is for Maccabi, but times changed, and Maccabi who once could offer him a great contract is now not among Europe’s best payers, so things might look differently when you’re a 34-year-old player who’s looking for the last big contract of your career.

CSKA Moscow tried once to get him out from Maccabi if he had a concrete solid contract offer and failed. CSKA got the resources to pay as much as needed but it is not sure that the club who is well known for a stable roster will be glad to spend too much money while they got who is considered to be one of the best small forwards in Europe, Siskauskas Ramunas.

Panathinaikos is one of Europe’s leading clubs in any criteria, but somehow it never seemed the Parker got coach’s Obradovic interest. PAO still has Diamantidis, and it seems that it is covered in the SF position much like CSKA.

We are left with only two clubs that are able to give AP a big enough contract. Barcelona might add Sarunas Jasikevicius, one of AP’s best friends and there is no doubt that it might persuade the American to join in. On the other hand there is always Euroleague’s richest club, Olympiacos. After getting Childress with $21M 3-year-contract it seems to be that nothing is expensive enough for The Reds, considering the fact that Nikola Vujcic, another AP’s friend is playing there, is making Olympiakos one of the best options for Parker.

So don’t say we didn’t tell you… the pursuit will start in June.
