According to several Greek websites, Olympiacos is expected to forfeit the match against Promitheas Patras next Wednesday (08/05) and will, eventually, be relegated to the second division.

The reason for the decision of the “Reds” is the presence of referee Panagiotis Anastopoulos in the match, who will be one of the three referees.

Anastopoulos also was one of the three referees of the Greek Cup semi-final between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos on February 13. Olympiacos had forfeited the game in protest of the referees’ decisions.

The “Reds” had also stated that the team will forfeit any game in the domestic competitions, if the match is officiated by Anastopoulos, Manos and Pangiotou.

The club’s official announcement is now expected.
