Everton TigersEverton Tigers has announced two exciting new additions to its squad as the team readies itself for tip off in the new BBL season.

Coach Tony Garbelotto, fresh from Great Britain duty at the European championship, has signed exciting American youngster Steven Rush and British starlet Andy Thomson.

The Tigers start on the road to Leicester on Saturday 3 October, but hope to raise the roof as they tip off their home campaign at the Echo Arena the following weekend.

Steven, 25, is heading to Merseyside from German Pro-B side Franken Hexer where he has played since January 2008.

Former North Carolina A&T college star, 5ft 11cm Rush is set to bring intensity, speed and excellent offensive skills to the Tigers' squad.

Steven said: "I am very excited about joining the Everton Tigers. I know they had an impressive season last year, and I am looking forward to helping the team achieve even greater levels of success this year."

6ft 10inch Thomson, 25, is a product of Manchester Magic's youth development setup and comes to the Tigers after a stint with Spanish outfit Almeria.

The team has also confirmed it has retained Olu Babalola and James Jones to form the core of its new look squad.

Coach Garbelotto added: "The close season is always a tough time with assessing the squad and I said I wanted a younger, higher energy team this season. Stephen and Andy add this dimension and I expect great performances from them.

"With Olu Babalola and James still with us from last season we now have the core of our squad."
