Zalgiris will start Euroleague Top 16 round without Dainius Salenga after the club decided to terminate his contract due to a violation of the contract. 33-year-old veteran is suspected of using doping. The final decision in the case is yet to be made but the player is currently suspended and therefore is unable to play.
According to Zalgiris, the player will be given an opportunity to return to the club in case the decision is made that he hasn’t violated the anti-doping rules. The absence of Salenga shouldn’t cause serious problems to the club as another veteran Marcus Brown is getting back to regular playing after missing most of the first part of the season due to recovery process after an injury.
Zalgiris will visit Power Electronics Valencia on Wednesday in the first game of Euroleague Top 16.
