DJ StrawberryTh search for a new point guard seems to be finished for Lietuvos Rytas. According to krepsinis.net, Lithuanian champions will sing D.J. Strawberry hoping to solve the problem of lack of play-makers. 25-year-old 1.96 m American guard was playing for Reno Bighorns in NBDL this season.

Strawberry was drafted 59th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by Phoenix Suns. He spent his professional debut season in Phoenix. He played 33 regular season games averaging 2.2 points and 0.8 assists per game in 8.2 minutes of play. Strawberry spent the second half of the season in NBDL before being recalled back by the Suns.

In 2008-2009 season D.J. Strawberry move to Europe and signed with Fortitudo Bologna. However, a meniscus injury in his left knee meant that he couldn’t finish the season in Italy.

New Orleans Hornets signed D.J. Strawberry in the preseason of 2010-2011 but waived the player a month later. He then rejoined Reno Bighorns in the NBDL. Strawberry is averaging 13.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in the NBDL this season.

Rytas also made another addition to the team by signing 23-year-old 2.12 m big man Karolis Petrukonis from the farm team Perlas Vilnius. Petrukonis is averaging 4.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game this season.
