Joan Plaza has officially parted ways with Unicaja Malaga after five seasons, the club announced today.
It ends a run of five years at the club with Plaza leading the team to a EuroCup title in 2017.
It is reported that Sergio Scariolo, the current Spain head coach will take over, amid rumours that the Italian will step down.
“After a mature reflection, we have decided that the cycle of Joan Plaza has been completed at the end of this fifth season,” said Unicaja President Eduardo García.
“We have to recognize the important career of Joan Plaza during this time he has been with us, and we want to thank him for his hard and intense daily work to give stability to our club.”
