CSKA Moscow coach Dimitris Itoudis was disappointed following his team’s loss to Zalgiris Kaunas (77-79) in the third place game.
The Greek coach said this was a tough weekend for him and his players, who failed to go all the way for a second straight season.
“We faced many difficulties, but this is not an excuse. We have won similar matches in previous Final Four, but this year things were different.”
Itoudis added their situation is similar to Real Madrid’s one, which lost both games in the 2017 Final Four and finished fourth.
“We had to deal with injuries to key players before the Final Four, it wasn’t an easy situation for us. We have to find motivation and play better ahead of the playoffs and Final Four of the VTB League.”
