Anadolu Efes Coach Ergin Ataman refused to shake Zeljko Obradovic’s hand following his side’s 100-74 loss to Fenerbahce in the Turkish League on Sunday.

With Fenerbahce leading 98-74, they strangely fouled in order to get possession in the last seconds so that they could get the last shot of the game.

While there are no rules against gaining an extra advantage towards the end of the game, it is a “gentlemen’s rule” to see out the game when the result is settled.

“So far, I have won and lost against Zeljko many times,” Ataman said.

“All the times I went to shake hands. Today I did not, and he knows why. Opponents and coaches must respect each other. Being up by 24 and taking a shot in the last six seconds is a huge disrespect in our line of work.”

Obradovic decided not to comment on the matter, post-game.
