Rumors surfaced late last night that Panathinaikos might be interested in Roderick Blackney as a backup for the point guard position and shut the door to Sarunas Jasikevicius for good. The soon to be 34-year old American guard also holds a Bulgarian passport, so he could fit in the 3+3 rule of the Greek league.
Now this surely can be regarded as an odd move as Blackney is 34 years old and possibly past his prime. The rumors started by Olympiacos affiliated media (Blackney has played for Olympiacos in the past) and were not denied by Green cycles. It can also be viewed at as a means of pressure on Sarunas Jasikevicius to finally agree with Panathinaikos and lower his demands.
