The official draw for FIBA AfroBasket 2017 took place on Sunday at The Westin Turtle Bay Resort and Spa in Balaclava, Mauritius.

Holders Nigeria have a reasonable draw as they play DR Congo, Mali and Ivory Coast in Group A.

Perhaps the most interesting group sees African powerhouses Egypt and co-hosts Senegal face-off in Group D with Mozambique and South Africa looking to keep the pool competitive.

Co-hosts Tunisia, hosting back-to-back AfroBasket tournaments are in Group C alongside Guinea, Rwanda and Cameroon.

The results of the draw are as follows:

Group A : 1.Nigeria ; 2.DR Congo; 3.Mali; 4. Ivory Coast.
Group B : 1.Angola ; 2.Central African Republic; 3.Morocco; 4.Uganda
Group C : 1.Tunisia ; 2.Guinea; 3.Rwanda; 4.Cameroon
Group D : 1.Senegal ; 2.Mozambique; 3.Egypt; 4.South Africa

The tournament will also feature a new trophy, which will be handed out for the first time on September 16 to the AfroBasket 2017 champions, has an etched map of Africa engraved, as well as all the past continental champions from 1962-2015 editions.
