German champion Brose Bamberg signed power forward Luka Mitrovic to a three-year deal on Thursday. Mitrovic (2.04 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Serbian powerhouse Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade, where he served as team captain the past three seasons. He posted 4.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in EuroLeague action and 7.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in the Adriatic League last season. Mitrovic spent a total of five seasons with Crvena Zvezda, where he arrived from boyhood club Hemofarm Vrsac. In his time with Zvezda, Mitrovic helped the club win three Serbian League titles, three Adriatic League crowns and four Serbian Cups.

“I have been talking to some of my team mates who have already played here,” Mitrovic said in a statement released by the club. “Everyone is enthusiastic about the atmosphere, not only in the arena, but also in the city. It is a small city, not as big as Belgrade, but everyone is crazy about basketball. And I mean that positively. They are like the fans in Belgrade, but I have the impression that in Bamberg the sport is better understood. Not only does everyone want their team to win, but they also want to see good basketball. I am personally rather the quiet type, I like to talk and philosophize about basketball. On the court, I am an all-rounder. I’m not the top scorer, but I can score when it matters; I rebound and do what is required of me.”
