“Goodbye Palacio Vistalegre, Hello Caja Magica”. Real Madrid decided to move to the newly built Caja Magica that was offered to the club as a home arena by the mayor last year.

The Caja Magica (meaning The Magic Box) complex was built in 2008 and costed about 150 million euros. The capacity of the main arena is 12.500. It features a retractable roof and can even host open air tennis matches.{jathumbnail off}

The lease was signed for a period of five years and Real Madrid will be paying a yearly 1.1 million euros rent to Madrid municipality which owns the arena. Real Madrid also must play their games somewhere else whenever the “Madrid Masters” tennis tournament takes place at the arena.
