Panathinaikos’ Alessandro Gentile is still trying to find his feet with his new club since joining from EA7 Milano in December but is still enjoying his basketball.

Gentile started and hit 10 points in 26 minutes of action during Panathinaikos narrow 83-82 EuroLeague victory over Unics Kazan on Friday but despite the positive showing, the Italian admits he is still trying to adapting to his different surroundings in the Greek capital.

“I’m still trying to find myself,” Gentile told Greek outlet Amna.gr. “I was out of action for a month before coming to Panathinaikos. I’m trying to find my shape in a new team. It’s not easy, but Xavi Pascual and my teammates trust me and help me to adjust as quickly as possible.”

Gentile has struggled to recreate the form that made him a NBA Draft pick in 2014. During his six seasons with EA7 Milano, he averaged 11.6 points with a career-high 20.0 in the 2015-16 season.

The 24-year-old though knows that the current issues with his new club are merely psychological and that he has to stay professional throughout the experience.

“Each time I enter the floor I try to give the 100 percent of my capabilities,” Gentile said.

“Sometimes I leave my mark positively and others negatively. But I don’t give up… I didn’t forget what basketball is. What I want to improve is my shooting. The matter is mainly psychological and that became obvious from the fact that in the game vs Unics, all my attempts were near the basket.”
