Baskonia coach, Sito Alonso stated that he admires Crvena Zvezda’s current form and realises it’s going to be a tough match to play, a day before their EuroLeague clash.
Not only has Red Star has won six out of the last seven matches in the EuroLeague, those wins were against some of the best teams in EuroLeague history and multiple competition winners: Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, Maccabi (twice), Zalgiris Kaunas, Fenerbahce, the so-called “creme de la creme” of European basketball.
“Red Star is not only team that competes, it is also one of the best tams in EuroLeague at the moment, especially when it comes to defence, aggression and dynamic,” Alonso says. “They are playing incredible defense, one of the best I have ever seen.
“Each moment they are aware where they stand, the ball is moving really fast and they have outstanding result this season. Also, we are aware that we can beat any team and we have to work very hard to secure a victory.”
He added that Tornike Shengelia is not ready 100 percent most probably player will miss the game.
Match between Baskonia and Red Star will be played on Tuesday, 24th January at 21:30 in Vitoria, Spain.
