Former NBA Draft pick No. 1 Anthony Bennett could be on his way to Europe, namely to Istanbul, Turkey. It is suggested that his new career stop will be Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The rumours spread after Misko Raznatovic, one of the top agents in Europe made the following tweet:

It was quickly concluded among many basketball-heads that mention of Bosphorus in Raznatovic’s tweet is a hint to Fenerbahce.

Although no official announcement has been made yet, the Bennett’s Wikipedia page already states that he is a Fenerbahce player.

Bennett is considered on of the biggest busts in NBA history as far as number 1 draft picks are concerned. Since his first pro season in 2013-2014 he never got his NBA career on track.

In a total of 151 NBA appearances Bennett averaged 4.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. His most successful season was in 2014-2015 with the Minnesota Timberwolves (5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game).

Bennett started the current with the Brooklyn Nets but once again struggled make an impact and was eventually waived on 9 January 2017.

In Fenerbahce he will get a chance to work with the most successful coach in Europe in Zeljko Obradovic. Though it won’t be easy knowing what a demanding coach Zots is.

Having lost to Crvena Zvezda yesterday, Fenerbahce are currently 5th in EuroLeague with a 10-7 record, just a win behind Baskonia.

Only time will tell if Bennett will finally become a player he was once expected to become. New chapter begins. Again.
