Goran Sasic, executive director of the EuroLeague Head Coaches Board (EHCB), has commented on the ongoing discussions between the NBA and EuroLeague, expressing his preference for a compromise between the two organizations.
Sasic spoke to Greek broadcaster Nova TV during his visit to Athens, where he attended Thursday’s EuroLeague game between Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce.
The EHCB executive director emphasized that discussions about a possible agreement have continued for some time, but no official decision has been announced.
“I always say I don’t believe anything until I see the shareholders raising their hands and giving a vote, or until I read a press release. So until there’s something definite, there’s nothing to discuss.
“Everyone has been asking this question about the NBA for the last two years, but nobody has said anything concrete. So the moment that something concrete comes up, we can discuss it, and I always say the best thing would be a compromise: all of them sitting at one table and finding that compromise. But if that can’t be found, you have to remember that EuroLeague now enters its 27th season.”
Sasic believes that bringing the relevant parties together would be the best approach to determining the future relationship between the NBA and EuroLeague.
However, he also made it clear that EuroLeague has already established itself as a major European basketball competition and has operated for more than two decades.
