Atlanta Hawks forward Mouhamed Gueye is expected to be sidelined after suffering a fractured left foot during a workout last week.
The team announced that Gueye underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair the injury and will be reevaluated in three to four months.
The 6-foot-11 forward appeared in 77 regular-season games for Atlanta last season, making eight starts while averaging 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game.
He also played in all six first-round playoff games against the New York Knicks, serving as the Hawks’ primary backup center while Jock Landale was sidelined.
Atlanta exercised Gueye’s $2.4 million team option earlier this offseason, and he had been expected to remain part of the frontcourt rotation entering the new campaign.
Based on the team’s timetable, Gueye is likely to miss training camp and the preseason, with his regular-season return expected to come later in the year.
The three-to-four-month timeline is for reevaluation rather than a return to play.
Gueye will be eligible for a contract extension throughout the 2026-27 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer if no new agreement is reached.
