The Miami Heat are targeting more shooting around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, with Tim Hardaway Jr. and Simone Fontecchio emerging as potential veteran minimum additions, according to Evan Sidery.

Sidery reported Saturday that “Tim Hardaway Jr. and Simone Fontecchio are being linked as likely free agent targets for the Heat at veteran’s minimum salaries,” adding that Miami plans to “stockpile above-average shooters around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.”

The Heat’s pursuit of perimeter help comes after the franchise completed a blockbuster deal for Antetokounmpo, acquiring the two-time MVP from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, a pick swap and a second-round selection.

Miami’s new roster construction requires spacing around its star frontcourt pairing. Antetokounmpo averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists during an injury-shortened 2025-26 season, while Adebayo averaged 20.1 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 73 games.

Fontecchio already spent the 2025-26 season with Miami, providing a floor-spacing role off the bench. The 30-year-old forward appeared in 70 games, including nine starts, averaging 8.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 16.8 minutes per game.

The Italian wing shot 37.5% from three-point range on 4.7 attempts per game last season, giving Miami a reliable catch-and-shoot option. His 54.2% effective field goal percentage ranked among the better marks among the Heat’s reserve contributors, although his overall field goal percentage finished at 41.2%.

Hardaway would bring a much longer track record as a high-volume perimeter scorer. The 34-year-old guard played 80 games for the Denver Nuggets last season, averaging 13.5 points in 26.6 minutes per game while shooting a career-best 40.7% from three on 6.9 attempts per contest.

Across his 13-year NBA career, Hardaway has averaged 13.7 points and 2.3 made threes per game while shooting 36.5% from beyond the arc. He has also received Sixth Man of the Year votes multiple times, including finishing third in the 2025-26 award voting.
