The Charlotte Hornets are set to add former Butler forward Michael Ajayi on a two-way contract after he went undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Ajayi took an unconventional path to the professional ranks, spending time in junior college before playing at Pepperdine, Gonzaga, and Butler.

He finished his college career with an impressive senior season, averaging 16.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while establishing himself as one of the top rebounders among wing prospects.

The 6-foot-7 forward earned First Team All-Big East honors and was viewed by some evaluators as a potential late-second-round selection.

While his efficiency and outside shooting remain areas for improvement, his production, versatility, and activity on both ends of the floor made him an appealing developmental target.

Charlotte’s two-way agreement will allow Ajayi to split time between the NBA roster and the G League as he begins his professional career.
