Harden was taken into custody around 3:41 a.m. after police allegedly observed a handgun on the seat of his vehicle during a traffic stop. Authorities stated the weapon was not in a holster.

The 36-year-old was charged with misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a weapon and later released on a $100 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.

The Cavaliers said they are aware of the incident and are gathering additional information.

Harden averaged 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists this season after splitting the year between the Los Angeles Clippers and Cavaliers.

Cleveland reached the Eastern Conference Finals before losing to the eventual champion New York Knicks.
