FC Barcelona Bàsquet are reportedly set to add Mike James to their roster after shifting plans in the transfer market this offseason.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the club explored moves for guards Sylvain Francisco and Jean Montero before eventually deciding to pursue James as competition for top guards across Europe intensified.

The veteran scorer reportedly accepted Barcelona’s offer despite uncertainty surrounding head coach Xavi Pascual and the club’s long-term direction.

Barcelona’s possible future coaching options, including Vassilis Spanoulis and Ibon Navarro, are both already familiar with James from previous coaching experiences in Monaco and Vitoria.

The 35-year-old guard remains one of the EuroLeague’s elite offensive players after averaging 16.4 points and 6.5 assists this season.

Barcelona reportedly sees James as an important experienced addition as the club prepares for significant roster changes ahead of next season.
