Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has reportedly won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award for the second straight season, according to ESPN sources. The league is expected to officially announce the result on Sunday.

The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar becomes just the 14th player in NBA history to capture the MVP award in consecutive years.

Oklahoma City once again finished with the NBA’s best record and top net rating during the regular season, further strengthening Gilgeous-Alexander’s case.

The 27-year-old averaged 31.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game while posting a 30.5 player efficiency rating.

Last season, he averaged 32.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.6 assists with the exact same PER.

Victor Wembanyama and Nikola Jokić were the other finalists for this year’s award.
