Zalgiris found their starting center after signing 2+1 year contract with Slovenian center Mirza Begic. 24-year-old 2.20 m tall player arrives from Olimpija where he spent past two seasons.
Begic played 10 games in Eurleague last season averaging 11.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. His best game was against Fenerbahce Ulker as he scored 23 points and added 13 rebounds.
Povilas Cukinas should be a backup for Begic. Lrytas.lt reports that 26-year-old Lithuanian center signed 1+1 year contract with Zalgiris. Cukinas was a member of Zalgiris's arch rivals Lietuvos Rytas for four years 2002-2006. Last season he spent in Ukraine with Budivelnik Kiev.
