The New York Knicks dethroned the Atlanta Hawks 114-98 to tie the series after back-to-back losses in the Eastern Conference playoff series on Saturday night.
Karl-Anthony Towns tallied 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists to earn his first postseason triple-double, and became the fourth Knicks player to record a triple-double in a playoff game, joining Walt Frazier, Dick McGuire, and Josh Hart. OG Anunoby added 22 points.
The Knicks took control midway through the first quarter and maintained the lead for the rest of the game.
New York held a 68-44 advantage at halftime and extended that lead to 20 points by the end of the third quarter.
On the other hand, CJ McCollum led the Hawks with 17 points, but did not have the same impact in the last two games. Nickeil Alexander-Walker had 15 points, and Jalen Johnson added 14.
The Knicks adjusted well defensively to limit the Hawks’ scoring options, which made them control the rest of the way.
New York hosts Game 5 at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night, and the series is now guaranteed to return to Atlanta for Game 6 on Thursday.
