The Chicago Bulls are expected to bring in an external search firm to help lead the process of finding a new head of basketball operations, according to ESPN sources.
This comes after the organization parted ways with vice president Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley following six seasons in charge.
Team president and CEO Michael Reinsdorf indicated that this hiring process will differ significantly from the one used in 2020, when Karnisovas was brought in.
“I think this process is going to be very different,” Reinsdorf said.
During their tenure, Karnisovas and Eversley led the team to a 224-254 record, with just one winning season and a single playoff appearance.
The move represents only the second major front office overhaul for Chicago since 2003.
Prior to Karnisovas, John Paxson held a leading role for 17 years, at times sharing responsibilities with Gar Forman.
Even with recent struggles, the job is still viewed as an attractive opportunity around the league.
The Bulls control their own lottery pick, are projected to have around $60 million in cap space, and have a young core on manageable contracts, highlighted by Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis.
