The Miami Heat used a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter to rally past the Philadelphia 76ers 119-109 on Monday night.
Tyler Herro led the Heat with 30 points, Bam Adebayo finished with 23 and 16 boards, while Pelle Larsson added 20 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
After the win, Miami has kept some realistic hope of getting out of the play-in tournament range — or at least getting into one of the top two spots and therefore assuring itself two chances of making the playoffs — alive with the win.
The Heat are ninth in the Eastern Conference, in a virtual tie with No. 8 Orlando.
On the other hand, Joel Embiid led the 76ers with 26 points. Tyrese Maxey had 23 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, and Paul George added 19.
VJ Edgecombe added 13 points and five assists for them to remain seventh in the East.
Philadelphia rallied from a pair of double-digit deficits after being trailed by 12 in the first quarter and took the 61-58 lead into the half.
However, the Heat opened the second half with a 29-11 run to take control of the game, leading by 15 with 3:29 left in the third.
The 76ers tried to answer with a 15-2 run to cut the deficit to two late in the third, then climbed back into a tie at 101-101 following a three-point play by Embiid with 6:04 remaining. The 76ers took a 107-103 lead on a 3-pointer by Embiid with 3:22 left.
Miami scored the next 14 points over the next 2:36.
Both teams will play on Wednesday: the 76ers visit Washington, while the Heat host the Celtics.
