The San Antonio Spurs continued their surge toward the postseason on Monday night, overwhelming the Miami Heat 136-111 at Kaseya Center while securing the Southwest Division title.
Victor Wembanyama anchored the victory with 26 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks, leading San Antonio to its sixth consecutive win and maintaining its pursuit of the Western Conference’s top seed.
The Spurs improved to 54-18, remaining three games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder (57-15) for the NBA’s best overall record. Oklahoma City extended its own winning streak to 12 games with a victory over Philadelphia earlier Monday.
San Antonio controlled the game from the opening half, scoring 76 points before halftime and building a lead that eventually reached 30 points. The margin marked the largest advantage by a visiting team in Miami this season.
Wembanyama delivered another dominant two-way performance, shooting 11-of-22 from the field while adding four assists and controlling the defensive paint. It marked the fourth game this season in which he finished with at least 26 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks, a statistical line the rest of the league has produced only once combined this year.
San Antonio’s depth also played a major role in the lopsided result.
Keldon Johnson and Dylan Harper each scored 21 points off the bench, giving the Spurs a major scoring boost from the second unit. Johnson shot 7-of-14 from the field and made three 3-pointers, while Harper added six assists and shot 9-of-14.
Stephon Castle contributed 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists, helping San Antonio maintain offensive flow throughout the game. De’Aaron Fox added 14 points and six assists to balance the attack.
The Spurs shot 48% from the field and recorded 33 assists, highlighting their ball movement and pace.
San Antonio has been the NBA’s hottest team since early February, compiling a league-best 22-2 record during that span.
Miami, meanwhile, continues to struggle at a critical point in the season.
The Heat fell to 38-34 and dropped their fifth consecutive game, tightening the Eastern Conference play-in race. Miami currently sits ninth in the standings, trailing the seventh-place Philadelphia 76ers (39-33) and eighth-place Orlando Magic (38-33) while holding only a narrow margin over the 10th-place Charlotte Hornets (37-34).
Norman Powell led Miami with 21 points off the bench, while Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro each scored 18.
Adebayo struggled from the floor, shooting 5-of-17 and 2-of-10 from three-point range as the Heat shot 40% overall and 31% from deep.
With the game out of reach, Miami rested its starters in the fourth quarter.
San Antonio now turns its attention to maintaining momentum in the Western Conference race as the regular season enters its final stretch.
The Spurs will visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, while the Heat begin a road trip with a matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
