Luka Doncic scored 60 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers past the Miami Heat 134-126 on Thursday at Kaseya Center, marking the second-highest scoring game of his career. After the win, he emphasized the role of team support, saying, “It shows that we care a lot about each other and that’s what great teams do. Just makes my heart happy seeing them celebrate my 60-point game.”

Reflecting on his performance this season, Doncic explained, “Just trusting my game… I know if some games I won’t have it. I’ve been here, so you just got to trust in yourself. I got all the support from teammates, which helps me a lot. That explains a lot about the team we are.”

He highlighted the importance of crowd energy, recalling, “It was pretty impressive. Especially away game in Miami, you hear the whole crowd chanting MVP… I got a little goosebumps. It was pretty special.” When asked about not being more prominently discussed in MVP conversations, he deflected, saying, “That’s you guys media. I ain’t got nothing to do with that.”

Doncic also discussed the Lakers’ mindset in tough stretches, noting, “We didn’t know if we were going to play and we end up all three played. Us three with Smart, we play the most minutes usually. That explains the team. We’re all in this together.” He emphasized the team’s resilience, stating, “We always had confidence… a lot of injuries, a lot of different starting lineups. Once we got healthy, that’s where we took off.”

On the reaction from teammates during his scoring run, he said, “It’s pretty special. I got all the choice from my teammates and that’s where you feel the best. We trust each other and that’s the best feeling.” Doncic’s 60-point night included 18 field goals on 30 attempts, 9 of 17 from three, and 15 of 19 free throws.

LeBron James contributed a triple-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Austin Reaves added 18 points as the Lakers extended their season-best winning streak to eight games. Miami, missing Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Andrew Wiggins, was led by Bam Adebayo’s 28 points and 10 rebounds, but the Heat struggled to contain Doncic after halftime.

The victory improved Los Angeles to 45-25, strengthening their playoff position in the Western Conference, while Miami fell to 38-32, holding the eighth spot in the East. Doncic’s performance set a franchise record for points by a visiting player against the Heat, surpassing James Harden’s 58 points in 2019.
